Territorial Acknowledgement 

We respectfully acknowledge that our business operates on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the W̱SÁNEĆ (Saanich) peoples. The Saanich Peninsula has been home to the W̱SÁNEĆ Nations since time immemorial.

The W̱SÁNEĆ peoples are made up of several distinct Nations, including the Tsartlip, Tsawout, Tseycum, and Pauquachin First Nations. These Nations have maintained a deep and enduring relationship with the land, waters, and ecosystems of the peninsula and surrounding coastal areas. Their governance systems, languages, laws, and cultural practices are inseparable from this territory and continue to thrive today.

This land is unceded, meaning it was never surrendered, sold, or otherwise legally transferred through treaty or agreement. The impacts of colonization, including displacement, resource extraction, and cultural suppression, have caused lasting harm to Indigenous communities across this region. At the same time, the resilience, knowledge, and leadership of the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples remain vital to the social, cultural, and environmental well-being of this place.

We recognize that reconciliation is an ongoing process, not a single statement or action. It involves listening, learning, and taking responsibility for how we operate as a business on these lands. We are committed to acting with respect for Indigenous rights, histories, and perspectives, and to continually educating ourselves about the Nations whose territory we work on.

As we grow, we aim to operate in ways that support ethical relationships with the land and the community, and that align with the principles of respect, responsibility, and reciprocity. We acknowledge that we are guests here, and we express our gratitude to the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples for their continued stewardship of this land.
